the English and German translations do not agree.
Does the Chinese sentence speak of "trying again" or of "looking again" ?

It means "try again" - the German sentence is probably a mistranslation.

(For those who are interested, 試試看 is a set expression and the 看 here is in the sense of "try again and 'see' if it works out/'see' if you can get it this time")
