Hi Lisa,
I was about to ask whether the current variant was taken from an official German translation of 1984, but I then found the following sentence:
Es war ein klarer, kalter Tag im April, und die Uhren schlugen gerade dreizehn.
I always do my own translations unless otherwise stated in the comments. ☺
So, I'm adding also the other variant, which is taken from the German translation.
PS. I added my comment one or two seconds after you. ☺
I guess it's possible to add a sentence from the official translation, isn't it?
It depends on whether the copyright has expired or not. I would rather not copy anything from any published translations, although the alliteration ‘klarer, kalter Tag’ is nice. Pity I didn’t come up with it myself.
So, for the time being, I'll refrain from uploading it.
