I believe this means "He put his hand on his chest", but some of the linked translations are about putting one's hand on one's *heart*. Is that really the same thing? Or is this just different ways of expressing the same thing, namely honesty?
Note that putting one's hand on one's heart actually means to put one's hand on one's chest. I think this translation is OK.
