From Nietzsche’s “Die fröhliche Wissenschaft”, can someone label this?

One word to German language learners: This sounds dated, because he left out a “zu”. Today you would say:

Die perfideste Art einer Sache zu schaden ist, sie absichtlich mit fehlerhaften Gründen zu verteidigen.
