What is 'bazisai'? I can find it nowhere in Lojban dictionaries.

I think "le fetsi" is an exceptionally terrible way to say "she", and I hope it will never catch on. I'm sad that it is propagated here.

{ti}, {ta}, {ko'a} or nothing. While there *may* be contexts where {le fetsi} is useful (like, a female x has been identified *as female* before), pe'i it shouldn't be propagated as a kind of default translation of {she}. English "she" does indicate gender by grammatical necessity, but it isn’t normally *about* gender, if you take my meaning. So your Lojban sentence is of course correct (I know you as a very competent and prolific lojbanist), but it just bugs me that people might take it the wrong way and emulate gendered pronouns in Lojban. (Considering that some of your teaching material exposes them to the same kind of usage.) Sry, I do feel strongly about this. I think you're doing a wonderful job for the language. io

In jbovlaste, somebody could propose gendered pro-sumti cmavo. I'm not sure, though, if such would go against Lojbanic philosophy, in general. (Lojban is an extensible language, not only in vocabulary, but also syntactically.) In my native language of Tagalog, we don't use gendered pronouns, but show gender in nouns and modifiers, such as "doktor/doktora" and "guwapo/guwapa" from borrowing from Spanish. Native words are ungendered mostly, such as "pamangkin" (nephew/niece), etc.

The point of the translation was being precise but concise.... unreachable goal of course.

ko'a would make this sentence identical to its clone with "he". There is no ideal solution especially because sentences in Tatoeba mostly lack context.

Another thing that seems still not in Lojban is age-differential cmavo: young vs. old. In my Tagalog, "ho" and "po" are age-differential indicators, but diluted with respect attitude. I think that age and respect can be separated. Again, Lojban is extensible.

I am thinking that masculine-feminine could be attitude-marked, as a possibility in Lojban. Incidentally, some animals, like some insects, have more than two genders. Amongst humans, some are naturally born as hermaphrodites.
