Please correct me if I am wrong, but this sentence seems to have been erroneously linked to the English one.

-Iyor gibi = like/as if/as though ≠ as it turned out

O benim hakkımda her şeyi biliyor gibi görünüyor. -->
He looks (like|as if) he knows everything about me.

However, I don't really know the best translation for "as it turned out". (Actually, I ended up here trying to figure it out.) "Anlaşıldığı gibi"? "Oysa sonunda"?

@tikan0

For a natural translation of that phrase in that sentence, I'd say, ''Yani işin aslı, benim hakkımda her şeyi biliyordu.''

But does it really convey the fact that the speaker didn't know the truth until s/he learned it at some later point in time? And that this truth was surprising to the speaker?

Can "ortaya çıkmak" probably be used here?

On Google Books, I can find a lot of sentences with "Ortaya çıktı ki..."

E.g.: "Fakat yıllar sonra ortaya çıktı ki, Osmanlı'nın aynı safta harp ettiği Almanya, söz vermesine karşın kapitülasyonların kaldırılmasında Osmanlı devletini desteklememiştir."

I'm still not sure about "oysa sonunda". :-) And why does it use the -dI past tense, not -mIş?

Also:
"Anahtar paltomun cebindeymiş meğerse." - it's an example from here: https://books.google.com.ua/boo...page&q&f=false
