"whilst" seems odd. The way it's written now, the sentence has the sense of "while I am minimising ..., if I were ..., I'd be". "whilst" -> "by" makes much more sense.
Also word order is odd. It's hard to know what "strictly" is referring to. Is it supposed to be "studying strictly" or "studying only* strictly for myself"?

Sometime's English is naturally ambiguous. That doesn't make them unnatural.
"I saw a man on a hill with a telescope."
Did you watch the man on the hill through the telescope or did the man who was on the hill have a telescope with him?
The meaning of "whilst" in this sentence, indeed, is "while I am minimising ...". I don't see a problem with the sentence.

If I were to spend more time strictly studying only for myself whilst minimizing red herrings online, I'd be more of the person I want to be.
