From sonja's book:

ale or ali
ADJECTIVE  all; abundant, countless, bountiful, every, plentiful
NOUN  abundance, everything, life, universe
NUMBER  100

Lang, Sonja. Toki Pona: The Language of Good . Unknown. Edição do Kindle.

@Tepan
Why the Pije tag? The sentence was "jan ali li wan."

Pije uses "ali" over "ale", so I used the tag "Pije". I removed it now.

Ah, you quote Sonja... yes... "ali" is in "Pu", but only mentioned *once* in the official dictionary as a synonym of "ale". (The complete list of synonyms is
"a" - "kin"
"ale" - "ali"
"lukin" - "oko"
"sin" - "namako".) So, the tag "Pije" doesn't necessarily express incompatibility with Sonja's book. In any case, it's a conscious choice that Pije makes (and defends).

Sonja's style is to use "ale", and Pije's style is to use "ali".

And if sometimes I use "ale", and at other times I use "ali", is it wrong?

Tepan Tepan November 1, 2020 November 1, 2020 at 11:34:37 AM UTC link Permalink

If you mix them in the same sentence, it would be worth discussing, I think.
