I don't get what this sentence is exactly trying to say. "Habíamos vivido" sounds very unnatural.

If it's "We were in an earthquake last night", then it's "Estuvimos en un terremoto ayer por la noche"
if it's "there was an earthquake last night", then it's "Hubo un terremoto ayer por la noche".
if it's "we had an earthquake last night" then it's "Tuvimos un terremoto ayer por la noche".

I don't know which of those corrections holds the meaning this sentence is trying to say.

Thanks, I changed it to the last suggestion.
