"La" sometimes replaces "Aql-i" : It is an elision.
La xeddmeɣ = Aql-i xeddmeɣ = I'm working = Je (suis en train de) travaille(r).
Aql-i la xeddmeɣ is also often used.

Your question was: What does "la" mean here? Please feel free to respond in French if you prefer.
