The previous version (来週の月火は連休だ。) was the only occurrence of 月火 in the sentences, and was being used in WWWJDIC as an example. See http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~...9C%88%E7%81%AB This change eliminates it.
Is it really a poor usage of 月火? If so, can you suggest another sentence using 月火 so it it not lost altogether?
来週の月火は連休だ。could be used, but it doesn't sound natural to me.
So, I changed the sentence a little bit. However, 月火(げつか)is also a common word for us.
> 来週の月火は連休だ。could be used, but it doesn't sound natural to me.
Fine - you did the right thing to change it.
> However, 月火(げつか)is also a common word for us.
なるほど. What would be a good substitute? I have heard it in contexts like: 「いつ行こうか」 「月火は大丈夫」 Is something like that natural?
Here are some examples that I think they sound natural.
A:今度はいつ空いてる?
B:そうだな、来週の月火なら大丈夫だよ。
毎週、月火はピアノ、水金はダンスを習ってるの。
あそこのレストラン、今度の月火は店内改装で休みなんだって。
Great. I'll add the second as a sentence pair. (Feel free to add the others.
