It's on a list for Classical Syriac (syc).
Syriac (SYG)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syriac_language
list = https://tatoeba.org/eng/sentences_lists/show/9439
flag = ?
@sabretou @cueyayotl Should we add this language?
I think so. Mind you, many of the sentences currently listed under "Old Aramaic" are really Syriac sentences.
*(SYC)
It should be OK to add.
Alright. We just need to a language icon (flag). Do you guys have one in mind?
It looks like the Aramean-Syriac flag would probably be most appropriate, but it is currently used for Old Aramaic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aramean-Syriac_flag
For Old Aramaic, it may be better to use the standard of Cyrus the Great, seen here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Achaemenid_Empire Old Aramaic, in the form of Imperial Aramaic, was the official language of the Achaemenid Empire. Technically this happened under Darius I who came later, but I'm not finding any standard for him that could be adopted.
Alternatively, the status quo could be maintained, and I could switch this sentence to "Old Aramaic."
I'm sorry to hear. Get a Syriac font, or raise an issue with Apple? This isn't a problem on our end.
@CK - You've got to download Noto fonts on Google
@sabretou - There's a flag issue according to shekkiten - https://tatoeba.org/eng/sentenc...omment-1168810
How could we solve this?
Shekitten's advice seems best in this regard.
Let's use this flag for Syriac: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F...aic_People.svg
For Old Aramaic, let's use the standard of Cyrus the Great, as suggested. Here is a png with the flag centred: https://imgur.com/ZpVKmIf
Thanks, Sabretou!
