@deniko, @Ooneykcall, @soliloquist, @cueyayotl,

Please be aware that sentences from Tom_Facts are not compatible with our CC BY license since they seem to have been copied for the majority from https://chucknorrisfacts.net. For the time being, I have marked them all as "unapproved" to avoid further translation.

I have restored this one to be translatable because it seems to be one of these T-shirt nerd jokes that have been so widely used by so many T-shirt vendors that it's pretty much public domain.

If you believe there are other unfairly quarantined sentences, let me know. We'll have to evaluate them case by case.

This one seems genuine, too. #8634738

I wonder if one can really claim copyright on these jokes, since they are created anonymously and collaboratively, and without Chuck Norris' knowledge or approval.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Norris_facts

"Norris responded to the Chuck Norris facts on his official website with a statement. Admitting some of the statements were indeed humorous, he said he tries not to take any of them seriously, and he hopes that such statements will interest people in real facts about him contained in his literary works.[1]"

"On November 29, 2007, Gotham Books, the adult division of Penguin USA, released a book entitled The Truth About Chuck Norris: 400 facts about the World's Greatest Human.[2] Norris subsequently filed suit in December against Penguin USA claiming "trademark infringement, unjust enrichment and privacy rights".[3] Norris dropped the lawsuit in 2008."

Claiming copyright on something that itself violates a trademark or privacy seems odd to me. This joke business itself is a bit dubious copyright-wise. Replacing Chuck Norris with Tom would actually make it less problematic in this regard.

Unfortunately, the fact that these jokes are created anonymously and collaboratively does not make them CC BY compliant.
