de hecho, la frase en español podría interpretarse de las dos formas, y si cambio el "lo haga" por "venga" la ambigüedad sigue ahí, así que si se te ocurre alguna idea, soy toda oídos.

es que en España es siempre "hacer algo lo mejor que puedas", no se puede decir simplemente "hacer lo mejor que puedas" sin indicar el qué, se necesita ese primer "lo", "hacerlo lo mejor que puedas".
