By the way, a filtering system is planned. In the future, people will be able to hide such sentences if they want so... But it's not ready yet.

Demetrius Demetrius May 17, 2012 May 17, 2012 at 6:40:21 PM UTC link Permalink

Thank you for your translations!

Demetrius Demetrius May 17, 2012 May 17, 2012 at 6:34:40 PM UTC link Permalink

Only advanced contributors and corpus maintainers can change links. Only corpus maintainers can delete sentences.

But you can write a comment a someone will notice.

I've relinked your sentence about friends.

Demetrius Demetrius May 17, 2012 May 17, 2012 at 6:31:33 PM UTC link Permalink

Ah, you mean this...

There are two kinds of translations: direct and indirect. Indirect translations are trasnaltions of translations; they are generated automatically and may be inaccurate. Indirect translations are shown in GRAY.

Only direct translations should be considered.

When you add a translation, all the other sentences disappear and only one is left. This is not a coincidence: you add a translation ONLY TO ONE SENTENCE (in fact, this is written in red letters when you click on the "add translation" button, but still no one reads it... -_-")

In this case, you've added German translation as a translation of ENGLISH sentence, so it's a mistake. You should have clicked on the French sentence and added a translation to the French sentence.

Demetrius Demetrius May 17, 2012 May 17, 2012 at 5:55:20 PM UTC link Permalink

Why? It's a normal sentence. Tatoeba doesn't censor sentences unless they break French laws.

Ja mogę. Jakiej przeglądarki pan(i) używa?

Demetrius Demetrius May 17, 2012 May 17, 2012 at 12:21:55 AM UTC link Permalink

I don't think this sentence should be deleted. I personally don't find it insulting or anything.

You just behave like a schoolboy...

Demetrius Demetrius May 16, 2012 May 16, 2012 at 10:00:13 PM UTC link Permalink

I believe "phonetic" spellings and other self-made orthographies should have the same status as conlangs: unless they enjoy a decent user base, they shouldn't be used on Tatoeba.

I seriously doubt there are many people who need this functionality. :P (In fact, I believe Nick Yeow is the only one. xD)

So I'm not going to support or expand this script.

The best idea (for Japanese) is to REPLACE the raw sentence with furigana. Since furigana is written over the kanji (and not instead of it), it can be safely used instead of the raw sentence... But I'm not going to implement this. :)

Demetrius Demetrius May 15, 2012 May 15, 2012 at 2:10:12 PM UTC link Permalink

Furigana can be easily hidden with an userscript (in fact, user CSS would suffice, but I don't know how to set it ^^").

The GreaseMonkey-compatible script is as follows:
---[start]---
// ==UserScript==
// @name Tatoeba_no_Furigana
// @namespace tatoeba_no_furigana
// @description Hides Furigana on Tatoeba
// @include http://tatoeba.org/*
// @include http://www.tatoeba.org/*
// ==/UserScript==

function addGlobalStyle(css) {
var head, style;
head = document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0];
if (!head) { return; }
style = document.createElement('style');
style.type = 'text/css';
style.innerHTML = css;
head.appendChild(style);
}

addGlobalStyle('div.furigana { display: none !important; }');
---[end]---

(This will hide only furigana. If you want to hide Chinese romanisations too, replace «div.furigana» with «div.romanization».)

[FIREFOX + GREASEMONKEY]
If you use Firefox, you need an addon Greasemonkey (or a compatible alternative) to create userscripts. After you install it, you can create a new script (choose arbitrary name and namespace, it doens't matter) and set "Included pages" to the following:
---[start]---
http://tatoeba.org/*
http://www.tatoeba.org/*
---[end]---

[OPERA]
If you use Opera, you can save the script code to a file with extenstion ".user.js" (for example, "tatoeba_no_furigana.user.js") in the user javescript folder.

To find out what is your user javascript folder (or to change its location) in Opera, open the menu Tools [設定 in Chinese version] > Preferences [功能設定] > Advanced [進階] > Content [內容], then click on the JavaScript Options [JavaScript 選項] button.

[OTHER BROWSERS]
If you use Chrome, it also can be done, but I don't have Chrome at hand. ^^"

You can translate the Tatoeba interface on Launchpad:
https://translations.launchpad.net/tatoeba/

You'll have to register there first.

Currently there are no Vietnamese translations, so it's likely you'll work on your own (unless someone joins you).

When the translation is ready, you have to contact the Tatoeba admin (sysko) and he will add it to the list.

JavaScript can't do this. The problem is server-side. Server exposes (or at least should expose) no functions to do one-way linking, only two-way linking, so JavaScript simply has no access to do one-way links.

Demetrius Demetrius April 18, 2012 April 18, 2012 at 11:18:07 AM UTC link Permalink

Because you have to graduate from school to be an admin. :)

Well, it would be nice to have a Russian-speaking moderator, I guess.

I'm just afraid you might be overdoing it and correcting sentences that are correct. :3

Demetrius Demetrius April 10, 2012 April 10, 2012 at 6:38:38 AM UTC link Permalink

I'm just having an argument with corvard about Russian punctuation here:
http://tatoeba.org/sentences/show/446725

I AM therefore biased, but I have my reservations.

Well... Theoretically I do have one, but in practice I've forgotten my password. ^^"

Hmm...
> 78 blua («blue», Nominative singular)
> 31 bluan («blue», Accusative singluar)
> 34 bluaj («blue», Nominative plural)
> 13 bluajn («blue», Accusative plural)
The same for «white»:
> 157 blanka
> 89 blankan
> 37 blankaj
> 12 blankajn

I guess it would be more useful if you included some morphological analysis (Esperanto being agglutinative, this shouldn't be too hard to implement)...
