It is in both, as there are both brazilian and european portuguese speakers in Tatoeba, as far as I know.
In these cases it would be great if sentence owners would tag or comment a sentence to make it clear whether the sentences belong to one or the other (just as it should be done with any variation, regionalism or dialect for any language).

Since only those who put a tag in a sentence are able to remove them, I think those who tag it should receive notifications about new comments, as to avoid a sentence ending up like this one, for example:

I think that, in order to prevent creating duplicate sentences by mistake, when one links a sentence to another, the page should automatically update the indirect links as well.
I was just about to add a translation to a sentence after linking it to others, when I thought to refresh the page only to see that the sentence I were about to add was already there as a translation of a translation.

Yes, and I understand that (in fact I'm not proposing to prohibit direct linking of sentences of the same language), but I was referring more to those sentences, in the very same language (for example, both in France's french), which have the same meaning but can be written in more than one way. What about those, do you consider correct to link them together?

What do you mean, that sentences should be freely linked together as direct? Why do you think so?

Wouldn't it be good if the comment/wall post systems had a way to link sentences without having to display the whole link?
If by submitting this very post #1912825, for example, would be automatically converted into a link to http://tatoeba.org/sentences/show/1912825, but only displaying "#1912825" to the reader, it would be much easier for both me and anyone who reads my post to link sentences to others, also being much more aestetic and clean.

I know there could be an userscript for this (and if there is please link it to me), but don't you think it would be much more accessible and generally better if it was integrated with Tatoeba itself?

Sometimes I happen to see two sentences of the same language linked together as direct translations, often because they are just two ways of saying the same thing.
In my opinion though, these kind of sentences should only be indirectly linked by their translations, because there is no way for something in a language to be properly named as "translated" into the same language; what's your opinion?
