So the wording is improper. They're not inactive, they're de-activated...

sacredceltic sacredceltic March 21, 2018 March 21, 2018 at 11:14:12 PM UTC link Permalink

What do you mean they're "inactive" ? How is that defined ? Because Shakespeare is dead, his verses may be stolen and perverted at will ?

Non, je parle de Tatoeba : la page d'accueil qui montre le palmarés des langues et affiche les 5 premiers drapeaux.

Au vu de la qualité lamentable de certaines phrases, je remets ce sujet CRUCIAL à l'ordre du jour...

Again, I'm DEMANDING why I am being censored for STATING A MERE FACT...
PLEASE authorities that censored me, I DARE YOU TO EXPLAIN HERE what Tatoeba principle I TRAMPLED !

I wonder what, in the mere FACT that I was reporting, goes against Tatoeba rules...

the correct way to avoid such a mess in the future is the following :

1) Check that a contributor UNDERSTANDS the UI before granting them the privilege to destroy other contributors' patient work.

2) add tooltips to the linking/unlinking buttons clearly explaining what they mean and do.

so you have unlinked, since the time you became an advanced contributor, dozens or even hundreds of patiently elaborated translations that were perfectly valid like here https://tatoeba.org/fra/sentences/show/1042481
This is absolutely shameful and I DEMAND that you immediately relink them ALL.
You are not proficient in French and you don't know the meaning of what you read in this language, so PLEASE STOP linking or unlinking translations in this language !
I don't get why you became an advanced contributor, which enabled you to destroy the work of other contributors !
Why on earth is the mastery of languages and the understanding of the service UI not a prerequisite to becoming advanced contributor ? That is beyond me !

>A good example sentence should be helpful and provide enough context to show how to use it.

If we are to follow this principle, 90% of sentences should be deleted. Even a "Yes" requires context...
I won't abide by this principle.

>If one person asks whether a sentence is not lacking a subject and a predicate in order to be complete, I think that is not an attack. It is just a question.

But I answered that and he insisted, although he knows nothing about the language.

>If the owner of that sentence explains that it is usually said that way and perfectly natural, I think it should be accepted, and the discussion can end.

But it didn't !!!

Have you spotted how many actual users use this new functionality ?
It's but a handful of admins and corpus maintainers...All this effort for NOTHING !
What a shame !
