[eng]About adding new languages:
First I really want to say I'm sorry to haven't found time these last months to add new languages, next week I will have a one week holiday so I will try my best to add all of them, in order to make the task faster, can you put here as a reply to this message, the language you requested to be added with this format
language name in english :
iso code :
a link to a picture that you want me to use for the interface (country flag, or if you prefer, simply the ISO code on a white background , or whatever color you want)
link to the list/tag containing the sentences you've already added
for example :
name: Esperanto
iso code : epo
flag : http://flagartist.com/FLAGARTIS..._esperanto.svg
this way I hope that at the end of the first week of April I would have added most of them
[epo] Pri aldoni lingvojn :

[spa] Respecto a agregar nuevos idiomas:
name: Esperanto
iso code : epo
flag : http://flagartist.com/FLAGARTIS..._esperanto.svg
de esta manera espero que para el término de la primera semana de abril haya agregado la mayoría de ellos.
name: Kurdish
iso code: kurd
flag: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PKK.svg
Espero que lo agregaras pronto .

and then after you add Kurdish would you please change all sentences that ive translated with Ainu flag and unkown language into Kurdish.
Please create a "kurdish sentences" list and add all your sentences to that list, because not all the sentences flagged "Ainu" are actually Kurdish...
ISO code: kur

I agree. Especially if the Turkish people see it as a terrorist organization, but I do not know enough about the issue. Perhaps some of our Turk contributers would like to weigh in.
Kurds and Kurdish span several countries : Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Iran, Armenia and Azerbaijan not to mention other countries were there are smaller groups http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fi...nguagesmap.jpg
Kurds are actually the largest ethnic group in the world that doesn't have a country of its own.
I think the choice of their flag for their language is their choice, whether that pleases others or not...
I don't think Mexicans should be consulted as to whether to use the US flag for English...
I knew the idea of a flag to symbolize languages was wrong from the start...
A very long discussion took place when I raised the problem some 2 years ago and I suggested we should stick to ISO codes. Know-it-alls quickly dismissed it as irrelevant. Here you are!
And Kurdish is but the tip of the iceberg...
Thanks sacredceltic well replied and i appreciated it highly.
> A very long discussion took place when I raised the problem some 2 years ago and I suggested we should stick to ISO codes.
I think this is a good idea and should be discussed. It would be much fairer and easier to use the ISO code...
.-.-.
> By the way, we should not use flags on Tatoeba at all.
I quite agree.
Maybe I am the only one here, who disagrees with that. Strongly.
Having just ISO codes in black-and-white takes away the handy effect of identifying all the languages present by the glimpse of an eye.
I understand all the concernces about flags and the problems arising. But I also like to emphasize the practical point. It takes much longer to look in a large list for some three-letter code than to look for the easily recognizable pattern of a flag.
The best would of course be if languages had flags on their own... but that's not the case, unfortunately. I'm just concerned the whole page would turn black-and-white (not literally, of course) by replacing the flags by short homogenous 2- or 3-letter codes.

+1
I disagree,
using iso tags or colors would just confuse new users and probably discourage them to participate.
I know many users who don't participate anymore because they don't see a specific flag, for example.
name: Old English
iso code: ang

Here's a list of some OE setences I translated.
The translations aren't exact and the Old English sentences don't contain the "standard" letters I've tried to institute here.
Hmm, can you give some suggestions to fix the OE?
