People wonder why I called the deduplication bot Horus instead of some more meaningful name, so I’ll explain the reasons. A meaningful name is only meaningful in one or a few languages. It is no use to call the bot DuplicateMerger or deduplication_bot for people who don’t understand English or Latin-based languages. I don’t like this kind on language inequalities, so I chose some “random” name instead. (Not so random actually since it’s the name an Egyptian god who is known to make order and harmony.) I though we would add more information about the bot in his profile page.

I don’t think it matters that much to make it that clear it’s a bot in the first place, because a bot is just here to automate tasks, to accomplish what a human would do but is too tiresome to do by hand. It may be a bit extreme, but I think people don’t even need to care if a user is a bot or not, giving its actions are legit and make sense (of course we should still provide some way to let people check whether a user is a bot or not if they want to, and more importantly who operates the bot).

If we want to make it clear it’s a bot nevertheless, I’d prefer to add some icon or something rather than including “bot” or “robot” in its username.
