Tatoeba slowing down my computer?
Maybe it's just a problem with my computer, but I've noticed that some parts of Tatoeba really slow down my computer now. The Wall is fine, but all the webpages that have lists of sentences, like the log or when I click "show more..." slow down my browser. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just my computer?
Whenever I use Google Chrome, it does happens to me but not when I use Mozilla,
I use Windows XP.
Thank you for answering. It happens to me when I use Firefox on Windows. Chrome is a little bit faster.
Which Windows do you use?
I recorded the issue - https://github.com/Tatoeba/tatoeba2/issues/1055
Can you give us the URLs of the page you are talking about?

If I try to scroll down, it's very slow and Firefox can even stop working for a while. This didn't happen before.
I have experienced the same problem, and I also use Firefox. Reducing the number of displayed sentences seems to help.
CK wrote on Github:
"The way Pfirsichbaeumchen describes the problem and her solution implies this isn't a bug and that this issue can likely be closed."
I think that it is a bug. The pages that I mentioned are so slow that they're unusable. It's almost impossible for me to browse the latest sentences or my log. This makes it much less enjoyable for me to contribute to Tatoeba.
Maybe this is just something that happens on my computer, but I don't think so. I don't know why this is happening now. I could use Chrome but I would prefer to keep using Firefox.
Edit: Also, I don't know how I could reduce the number of sentences displayed.
I'm also using Firefox but this isn't happening here, and my computer wasn't built by NASA.
I do find - likewise - that scrolling on Tatoeba goes in stops and starts, not smoothly at all like on other webpages on my laptop, and it's trying one's patience. I use Firefox as well.

No it's not that. It's downloaded alright. But the page is awkward in its movements, though tolerable. What hybrid describes seems a lot worse.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll disable my add-ons, which aren't many, and will get back to you. (Might take a while.)
The issue will have to do with the individual computers, I suppose. I disconnected my add-ons and restarted the laptop. No change.
I tried Totoeba on my wife's office computer, which I normally don't use. She uses Firefox. No problem whatsover.
On my laptop especially the comment pages are difficult to scroll through. On the office computer everything was fine.

I'll try and tackle all of those. Emptying the cache didn't get my anywhere. But, as I said, it's not TOO bad with me. Thanks anyway.
Thank you everyone for your answers. I think that it must be something with my computer.
I discovered something new. This problem only really happens when I make the text big. When I make the text normal size, it's not smooth, but not so bad. When I make it really small, everything works normally.
So maybe something in the programming of the web page happens differently depending on the size of the text?
Tatoeba gets so slow to scroll on my computer with Firefox 45.0 under Ubuntu 15.10. I get this mostly on the wall and the latest contributions page
Do you experience slowness only on Tatoeba, or also on other websites that have very long pages?
just tatoeba, apparently
Can you (and other people affected by this problem) try to enable or disable the 'smooth scrolling' option, to see if it changes something? I’m talking about this: http://www.pcworld.com/article/221150/Firefox.html
I would like to know if scrolling is still slow when you change this option, regardless of smoothness. Try to compare with other sites.
Also, does the problem occur while running Firefox in safe mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-...sing-safe-mode
It's still happening :(
Thank you for reopening the bug. Maybe it should not have been closed so quickly. Anyway, now the Wall is also very slow.
Yes, it is. I'm using chrome to send you this comment.

How to solve this problem temporarily:
• Go to the settings page — https://tatoeba.org/eng/user/settings
• Change the number of sentences per page to 10.
