what about making the sentences in an unknown language searchable until a proper language for them has been implemented?
I tried to search for sentences in any language belonging to this list: https://dev.tatoeba.org/ita/sen...ists/show/3588
but no results have been found in the query: https://dev.tatoeba.org/ita/sen...io=&sort=words
Maybe it could be useful to search for sentences containing given words in a language one can speak but isn't yet on Tatoeba, and, for new users, having no results could maybe make them think that a given list that is supposed to represent a new requested language is empty, imho. If such feature isn't feasible/useful, maybe a message telling that sentences in an unknown language can't be searched could be helpful

While I think it is technically possible, note that it won’t show any results for languages that use a script that is not yet used in any other language included in Tatoeba.

On dev.tatoeba.org, I can see 524 lists public lists, and the drop-down only includes these 524 lists, under the Other lists section.
I think you got that, but I’m just clarifying: unlisted lists don’t show up in the drop-down.
Selecting a list is just as bad as selecting a language, but people seem to live with that.
I don't know if it's related, but whenever I try to add a certain sentence from https://tatoeba.org/eng/sentenc..._to=por&to=por into a list, the "Add to List" icon doens't work unless I translate a sentence or after I translated a sentence. It means
1 - Whenever translate a sentence from https://tatoeba.org/eng/sentenc..._to=por&to=por , I have to translate another sentence in order to be able to add sentences to list again;
2 - Whenever I translate a sentence from https://tatoeba.org/eng/sentenc..._to=por&to=por and close the tab/window/the browse, I have to reopen that again or clean the cache in order to be able to add sentences to any list.
