** Stats & Graphs **
Tatoeba Stats, Graphs & Charts have been updated:
http://tatoeba.j-langtools.com/allstats/
Due to irregular database exports some stats look like a disaster. :-)
thanks
you're welcome :-)
Hey sharptoothed, thanks a lot!
The tls certificate is not valid for the tatoeba subdomain, do you mind adding it? :)
You're welcome. :-)
ummm... Is there any reason for doing that? :-)
So we can visit your website using tls (https).
Let's Encrypt authority that I use doesn't offer wildcard certificates so I would have to issue a separate certificate for every subdomain of my site. I don't feel like doing this now. Besides, my Tatoeba stats and graphs don't contain any sensitive info one may want to protect using https, I believe.
If you pay attention, you are already serving this domain on HTTPS, just that the certificate is currently not valid.
For your information you don't have to request multiple certificates, you can have multiple domains in the same one with the SAN extension. Have a look at tatoeba's, we are serving audio, www, static, etc. all with the same.
As for sensitive information, even if most commercial products make it sound like the goal of TLS is only to protect your credit card data, you actually want all the web to run on top of TLS.
Using TLS hides information transiting on HTTP from third-parties that have nothing to do in the chain, like advertisment, or the NSA^W^Wyour coworker listening on your traffic. You don't want to hide only the sensitive bit, otherwise they will know it is sensitive and you just reduced the target for them.
Anyway, I already spent more time writing this than it would take you to get that certificate.
Thanks again for the stats.
Well, that makes sense. I'll look into SAN once I have time. Thanks! :-)
Hint for Let's Encrypt, you just have to request all domains you want in the same request.
If you are using certbot:
"-d DOMAINS Comma-separated list of domains to obtain a cert for"
Thanks again. Now Tatoeba stats are available via https, too. :-)
