Hello to all,

Some time ago, someone brought up an idea about creating a separate forum for Tatoeba, where things on various subjects could be discussed.

I was wondering if that idea about having such a forum is still considered.
I think that it would be great to be able to chat with other members of Tatoeba and maybe from outside too.

I remember visiting a separate Tatoeba forum several times in the past, but I cannot find it anymore.

I just have attended this page. Normally I used to use different apps but thanks to Tatoeba, I can learn the usage of words and patterns in sentence.

Since this is a volunteer project and anyone can start a forum for free, the way to go is to start a forum and see if it gets traction.

The idea of having a separate forum isn't totally dead, but it requires work to set up and maintain one. Within the team, we don't have the resources for that. This Wall is the best we can offer.

There are actually already some existing separate "forums":
- there's the GitHub issues: https://github.com/Tatoeba/tatoeba2/issues
- there's a Google group: https://groups.google.com/forum...tatoebaproject
- there's a Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/129340017083187/
- there's a subreddit too: https://www.reddit.com/r/tatoeba/

The GitHub issues are focused on Tatoeba as a software, so you wouldn't be able to ask anything there.

But you could do it on the Google group or the Facebook groups. Both are actually listed in the footer and are somewhat official platforms for Tatoeba. Only thing is, they don't have much activity. And I will probably remove the Facebook group at some point. It can remain, but won't be official anymore.

I have no idea who created the subreddit. But I can imagine that having some activity there could beneficial for Tatoeba, to give more visibility to the project.

In general, I have nothing against the idea of Tatoeba communities spawning elsewhere, and not managed by us. So if someone wants to give it a try, go ahead, build a community outside of Tatoeba. You're highly encouraged to.

Hi TRANG,

Thanks you very much for the answer!

A subreddit is good idea, but the person who created it left so no one can post anything there as it was supposed to be premoderated. So it's effectively dead, unless someone claims it.

Anyone's willing to request moderation rights for it?
