Perhaps we should have different logos for each alphabet: one for Tatoeba, and others for Τατοεβα, Татоэба, タトエバ....
Displayed at random? That could be a neat idea.
I guess the idea is to show it matching the interface language. At least that's how I would deem it best.
Matching the interface was what I meant.
+1
Matching your interface (like slomox said) would be obvious, but boring. If you already registered, you know what the project is about. By the way it always says tatoeba.org in the adress bar.
But what if you haven't already registered? Let's keep in mind that we aim to serve non-registered visitors, and that the (limited) interfaces should be as usable and understandable as possible. Wikipedia already has separate interfaces for different languages, probably for similar reasons.
I like this idea! I'll ask Trang if she can easily code it, and I'll do the images :)
We should translate the word "project" in each image as well.
I would like to remove it altogether. I don't think it's very important. Then we could at least use the same logo for each alphabet, rather than having a separate one for each language.
for this, to have the logo in svg will be better :)
yes, SVG rocks - and it can be coded even dynamically by php for example, or even use ecmascript to dynamically change its contents.
> Τατοεβα
Maybe Τατοεμπα?
Would that better denote the hard B sound? To me, you see, that looks like Tatoempa.
I believe it would, at least it's how it is written in modern loanwords, e.g. Μπρίστολ (Bristol), Μπορντό (Bordeaux). Τατοεβα would mean sth like Tatoeva.
But maybe there should be 2 different spellings: Τατοεμπα for modern Greek and Τατοεβα for ancient. :P
BTW, Татоэба is appropriate only for Russian and Belarusian. In Ukrainian, it would rather be Татоеба.
