Yes, I had them on for around 2 years. They were fine, but now I get a lot of other kind of emails that are usually urgent and receiving notifications about Tatoeba emails was bothersome, since I always thought they were something serious, and it stressed me out.

I think I will leave them turned off for the time being. It is fine if this system does not get implemented.

Thank you for taking the time to answer!

I don't think that would be a solution to anything. I can check comments on my sentences whenever I want to and I will not miss anything. I want notifications when someone mentions me or when someone also comments on a sentence which I've commented on. There is no way to be notified of that if the email notifications are off, and the only way to check it is scrolling through the 'Latest comments' section, which is neither an efficient nor fast way to do it.

Relating to the conversation on email notifications:

Would it be possible to receive notifications on Tatoeba itself rather than getting emails about them? I am thinking a bell icon (or whatever kind of icon) next to the Inbox.

I do not want to receive emails, since I do not think anything would be so urgent here that it had to be attended forthwith and I do not want my inbox to be littered. I would still like to get notifications though, so I can check them when I open the site, otherwise I will likely miss out on mentions etc.

Alright, thanks! I'll leave them be then. I was just wondering, since a bunch of them had the @change tag and I was going through those.

Oké, köszi! Akkor békén hagyom őket. Csak azért kérdeztem, mert egy csomón van @change címke és azokat próbálom rendbe rakni.

Hello all,
I ran into a bunch of Hungarian sentences from a contributor who has been blocked. Most of the sentences sound unnatural. Is there something that could be done about it? I think these should be deleted.

The sentences:

Helló!
Találtam egy csomó magyar mondatot egy olyan hozzájárulótól, aki ki lett tiltva. Ezeknek a többsége nagyon természetellenesnek hangzik. Lehetne valamit kezdeni velük? Szerintem törölni kellene őket.

I have a quick question.

Should contributions that are not full sentences be deleted?

I came across this sentence: #4694865
"A városban.", which translates to "In the city.".

These are only prepositional phrases, thus not full sentences and I don't know what Tatoeba's rules say about these. I thought it would be easier to ask here, rather than to go through the whole Wiki.

But also, things like "Yes." or "Thanks." are not full sentences either, so I don't know how fair it would be to delete these.

Hello everyone!

I got myself a new mic, so I'm able to record more audio for Hungarian sentences. If you want me to record a specific sentence you can add it to the following list:

https://tatoeba.org/eng/sentenc...show/28326/und

You can add as many sentences as you'd like.

Have a good day!

(hun)

Heló mindenkinek!

Szereztem egy új mikrofont, szóval újra tudok hangvételeket készíteni magyar mondatokhoz. Ha szeretnétek, hogy egy bizony mondatot felvegyek, adjátok hozzá a következő listához:

https://tatoeba.org/eng/sentenc...show/28326/und

Annyi mondatot adhattok hozzá, amennyit szeretnétek!

Szép napot!

Hello everyone!

Sorry about the off-topic.

I'm proofreading the English-Hungarian sentences on ClozeMaster. I know all the sentences are imported from Tatoeba.
So my question is when I find a mistake should I only comment on the sentence on Tatoeba, or should I also report it on ClozeMaster? Is it going to be corrected if I only comment on Tatoeba?

@Pfirsichbaeumchen

>>>Does a sentence automatically lose its worth if it contains the name "Tom" no matter how rich it is otherwise

No. My problem is not that there are a lot of sentences containing Tom, Mary or Boston. I'm OK with that if as you said it is rich otherwise.
But sentences like:
I wonder whether Tom has already told Mary she doesn't have to do that.
Tom said that Mary knew that he wanted to do that by himself.
Do you think Tom would mind if Mary did that?
Tom and Mary told me they like doing that.
Do you think anyone will care if Tom and Mary don't do that?
I know Tom is planning on doing that tomorrow.
Tom doesn't plan on doing that anytime soon.

There are a lot of these. I'm not saying that they are useless, but there are too much of them. I only had to got trough like 4 pages to find all these.
But that's just one example. There are countless sentences like: Tom likes apple. Tom likes basketball. Tom and Mary like apples. Tom, Mary, John and Alice all like apples. Etc. It's just boring and repetitive. It's like they all are made from the same mold. And because of all these I have to go trough around 10 pages to find 10 good sentences to translate.

I guess I'll add a few more then and see what will happen.

Sentences wanted

Is it likely that if I add English vocabulary items to the list any native English speaker will write sentences to them?
I'm asking because I'm planing on adding some as I'm reading a book and I'm collecting unknown words from it. But I don't want to bother with that if there's no avail.

Also I saw a few words in Cyrillic writing among the English words.

Már megoldódott a probléma. Úgy látszik, nem azonnal törli.

I wanted to link an English sentence to a Hungarian one, but I was lazy to go and search for it so I typed it in as a translation. But I ended up adding a new English sentence. Why didn't Horus merge them? Maybe because of the audio? Or did I make a typo and I just can't seem to notice?

I see the word that you wrote. I still think it's weird that only these two words remained. Maybe someone did write sentences for all the vocab items.
Thank you for checking and replying. :)

When I go to 'sentences wanted' and choose Hungarian only 2 words come up. job and üdvözlet. Why is that? I remember that there were several words before. I had the same issue a few months ago but I thought that there wasn't any words added yet and that's why only these to words were displayed. I don't think that someone wrote 10 sentences for all the words except these to, so either I'm doing something wrong or it's a bug.

jegaevi jegaevi 2019-aŭgusto-05, modifita 2019-aŭgusto-05 2019-aŭgusto-05 17:33:10 UTC, modifita 2019-aŭgusto-05 17:38:31 UTC link Konstanta ligilo

What if there was an option to 'tag' words? For example:
(Tom;name) likes cake.
(Jenny;name) likes cake.
(Mennad;name) likes cake.
These near duplicate sentences would be grouped together automatically (maybe linked by a third type of link). So the corpus would be more diverse without having to ban Tom and Mary and without lots of near duplicates. It could be applied to other wildcards such as Boston, Australia, Monday or french.

I know nothing about coding, maybe this would be really hard to do. It's just an idea, maybe it can not be done at all.
