I am grateful for the Kabyle team of Tatoeba who awarded me a prize for my modest contributions in Kabyle and some other languages intended to make our language visible. And I do not forget CK who, by his incontestable competence, his intransigence justified by my English translations sometimes clumsy and especially his empathy for the Kabyle team of Tatoeba and that allowed us all to surpass ourselves and to force the measure to face adversity, with all the required correction and the rigorous ad hoc diplomacy.
Congratulations and good continuation for the following, you are doing a good job. Thank you very much for everything you are doing for our language.

I thank you so much. I could persevere only thanks to you since, two years ago, I did not even know how to write correctly in Kabyle. I learned with you on the job and did my best. I tried to make our language visible and accessible by explanatory sentences and translations into French, English and even other languages but, apart from French, I quickly showed my limits in academic English and other languages. However, I always accepted the critics and corrected myself. It would be best to ask our English-speaking Kabyles not to leave our Kabyles sentences orphaned. It would be a pity!
Some sentences about chemistry; many have English (and some French) translations, which do not have Kabyle translations. Maybe you would like to translate them?

Dear Colleague,
On the translation of scientific terms, such as chemical names, I thank you for your suggestions. However, I have personal reservations about the transcription as long as some "orthodox" linguists (mostly literary, for the moment) refuse the introduction of the letters (opv) little used in Kabyle and Tamazight (kab & ber) - till now. As it has already happened for the Arabization of scientific names - which was fanciful - I refuse to do the same ascientific treatment to the Kabyle language by translating, for example, the chemical names like methanol by "MITANUL", protactinium by BRUTAKTINIUM, isobutanol by IZUBITANUL, neodymium by NIYUDIMYUM, vanadium by BANADIYUM. My culture of chemistry teacher (during more than 37 years) forbids me to change the international nomenclature in such a fantaisist fashion. I am waiting for our linguists to introduce the letters OPV. That's the explanation: I do not just want to translate to translate. I am sorry. I agree to be shot after this comment, which I assume.

Of course you do not deserve to be shot for your choice of which sentences to translate or not to translate. However, I'm curious about the significance of the letters OPV. They seem to be not uncommon in the Kabyle corpus, especially for loanwords. E.g. O in #7546759, P in #7084244 and V in #7100265. Is there some kind of language academy that declared official translations for chemical terms without using those three letters?

About the "missing" letters o, p, v: In fact, it's simpler, so more complicated, at the same time. The Berbers have, for too long for my "opinion", worked their culture in the language of the occupant of the moment. When the Kabyles began to reclaim their language in the 19th century, they opted for a phonetic transcription including the "rare" letters in question. When the anthropologist Mouloud Mammeri wanted to unify the Berber "variants" of all North Africa, under the TAMAZIGHT banner, he did not want to impose on languages other than Kabyle the letters opv (curiously absent from the so-called Hamito-Semitic languages, to my knowledge). After the semblance of consecration as a national language and "official", those who continued the work of Mouloud Mammeri, while trampling him, maintained this "exception" and opted for the hard line of "exclusion of letters opv ". As I am a chemistry teacher and far from being a linguist (but just a fervent contributor in the Kabyle language), I have just "put back on the job" the work that awaits us when we have to teach the hard sciences.
