"Go out" here should mean carrying on a romantic relationship instead of leaving a building. The Chinese translation should therefore be 交往 rather than 外出。
The Chinese translation is not a direct translation of the English sentence, so the fact there's a little slip of meaning is normal.
Does it even make sense to use 外出 here? I can't really think of a situation where you would say this.
