I can see your argument.
On the other hand, I know I've heard this sentence uttered a million times in movies and read it in books where someone says, "Not one word!" after, say, walking into the house soaking wet or something. It's perhaps an interjection or response, if not a grammatically complete sentence without context. And to me it seemed like the best translation and probably the same intent as the phrase in Polish, showing the dramatic nature better than, "Don't say anything," which is rather pedestrian in comparison.
"Ani słowa!" is also closer to a fragment than a complete sentence, not containing anything clearly resembling "do not" but rather "ani" which usually translates as "neither".
So this is my argument in favor. That being said, you're the OG around here and if my argument isn't enough to convince you then I'll change it.
Understood! Thanks for the explanation!
