Wrong FRA translation.
I replaced the wrong translation with a corresponding one, if not correct.
In english I'd say "as you were told" instead of "as you're told" to fit the いた stance. What do you think ?

If you look at the subphrase いわれた通りにする then the いわれた通り is past tense locally, in comparison to にする. It isn't past tense in comparison to the sentence as a whole.
In other words, you can't do what you're told until after you're told it. Which is common sense.
In any case 'told' is past tense, so "do as you're told" is already as close to the Japanese as it can get, IMO.
I think you're completely right. :)
