I think, for Tatoeba's sake, it would be better to keep it. It's the English standard for separating lines of verse not printed on separate lines.
Slash separators are already well accepted in Tatoeba.

Well, personally, I don't have any problem with slashes nor do I have a problem with virgules that are supposed to be used as a line break in poetry. I just think there's no need to use them here since it's not always possible to translate verses into other languages preserving the original line structure.
That makes sense; but the fact that it's verse--and where the line breaks are--may sometimes help a translator, even when the translation is not into verse. (The help may be as little as hinting at a tone or a mood.) For me it just seems wrong not to present it--as well as we can--the way we found it.
Oh yes, I prefer a double slash:
