Hmm, I don't think this is a correct translation of the Chinese sentence. It's true that 打 usually means "to beat", but it can mean "dozen" as well. In this case, since it immediately follows the word 几 which means "a few" or "some", only the letter meaning would make sense. :-)
this sentence makes no sense in Spanish... should be changed or deleted.
