Whether you're trying to be polite or not, "give" still needs the object "me" (or "us"), which is what I think Raggione was trying to say.

Could you give me the bill, please?
Could you bring us the bill, please? (But that's already used.)

Why did you get rid of "kindly"? I personally wouldn't use it, but I've heard plenty of Indians say it.
