En français, on utilise le mode indicatif dans les clauses énonçant les conditions :

si <proposition à l'indicatif>, <proposition au conditionnel>
si je connaissais tout, je parlerais ainsi.
=> je parle ainsi comme si je connaissais tout

Un procédé mnémotechnique est appris aux enfants pour se souvenir que "si" n'aime pas le conditionnel. On dit « les "si" n'aiment pas les "ré" » (parce que tous les conditionnels se terminent par le son "rai/ré" ou traduit de manière amusante http://tatoeba.org/epo/sentences/show/1053466

De fait, de nombreux francophones font tout de même la faute. Cette faute fait d'ailleurs partie des signes de reconnaissance les plus fréquents du niveau d'éducation.
