@ morbrorper He did not answer the question. This was a conscious decision on his part.

Is this different from #2527112 (I'm sorry. I didn't do it on purpose.), where somebody did something by accident?

For example, on an exam, Tom intentionally left a certain question unanswered.

I just realize now that ''I didn't do it on purpose'' is ambiguous.
1. I did it, but it was not intentional
2 I intentionally did not do it.
