The italian, English and Japanese are slightly different in meaning.
その学校は -> that school -> quella scuola
questa scuola -> this school -> この学校は
the school -> la scuola -> 学校は
Theese are the three possibilities...
It's not belong to anyone now!
And please do the same for French "Cette école a été fondée en 1650.", where "cette" means this/questa. (use "l'école" for "the school")
Also, I noticed that English "The school was established in 1650." and "This school was established in 1650." should be unlinked to each other. bye!
Just to note that there is no equivalent of 'the' in Japanese. When English uses 'the' to identify a specific case (e.g. 'the school') Japanese often uses この or その in the equivalent sentence.
Translating
その学校は1650年に設立された。
as
/This school/
would be wrong, but translating it as
/The school/
is OK in my opinion.
