My take on this:

My father taught me about poems during my early years at elementary school, which made me want to become a poet. The wish I made in the Star Festival that year was "I wish to become a poet." Thirty years have passed, and my wish has finally been granted. I am now, without doubt, a shut-in who writes lines all day.

If it were super localized, anyways. The "disabled" nuance in the pun is sort of lost, but at least the joke carries through better, IMO.
