The singular bothers me a bit, here. Would it not be better to say "Your singing would a professional singer to shame", or "Your singing puts professional singers to shame"?
I agree with Swift. I would say "Your singing would put a professional singer to shame."
I think this sentence is fine as is.
(unless this is a translation check)
Actually, I'm not too bothered by this any more. Besides, it's now owned by papabear and has in the meantime been translated into Esperanto and French, so I think it should stay as it is. Feel free to add the other version as an alternative (should we not have it already).
Please pardon my newness here, it just sounded wrong to me. I will go ahead and put in the alternate.
Not at all, thanks for commenting on it. It's better to be a little overly critical than let unnatural sentences pass.
Oh, and welcome to Tatoeba! :-)
The singular in the sentence as it is now sounds strange to me; I think "which professional singer?" I think using a plural "professional singers" (in general) sounds better.
Come to think of it, @Shiawase, I agree.
