"last night" can mean both evening and night, no?
Edit: so... the original translation wasn't incorrect then, just not the only one possible (and not the most likely one, yes).
Hi Oeneykcall, I put this past a native speaker. And what I got was that it seemingly is partly a question of context. So you would say: I had a dream last night. In this case it clearly means during the night. With this sentence here it means in the evening plus the hours before midnight, I would think. This is also what the German Abend means. If you want to express that the action happened during the night you would say something like: We met in the night. - By the way Nacht can mean evening in German dialect, too, as far as I remember. Especially in the South. #4171164, I hope.
It would be helpful to get the opinion of a Tatoeba native speaker, though.
