This sentence is not a correct translation of the other versions of the same sentence. I'm not a native Spanish speaker but I do have a high understanding of the language, enough to know that "Yo tengo otra alternativa más que comer lo que ellos me sirvan" means the exact opposite of, for example, the English translation given "I have no choice but to eat what they serve me". I consulted /r/Spanish on Reddit and received confirmation from a native speaker that the sentence is, indeed, incorrect. Here is the link for reference: https://www.reddit.com/r/Spanis..._comer_lo_que/
This user suggested "No tengo otra alternativa [más que comer lo que ellos me sirvan]" although of course the first person pronoun "yo" can be added to this sentence to retain continuity with the current version. It doesn't really matter, as long as the verb "tener" is negated with "no", otherwise the translation is semantically wrong.
As you pointed out, the sentence was badly put together. Apologies.
