Because obviously, this sentence has no owner anymore. It was lost, somehow. You may however adopt it again, I think..
Wacky idea: Tatoeba Day
For hardcore Tatoeba fans...
Why don't we pick a day of the year (or maybe, even, a date of each month) on which we all try to contribute crazy amounts of sentences? And then we see how high we can set the single-day contribution record to, and then try to pass it on the following Tatoeba Day.
That sounds like a lot of fun! I'll definitely take part in it (if my schedule allows me to). :-)
But what about the date? The day Tatoeba was started, perhaps?
We could probably vote. Or we could just do it several times a year, when there was enough momentum for it.
e.g. "Hey, it's Christmas vacation, let's have a Tatoeba Day!"
I definitely like this idea ^^ but IMO if you just have one or two Tatoeba days a year it is not that cool to try to defeat our last marks and all that (we would have probably forgotten how many sentences we added that day :P ), I'd rather have a "Tatoeba day" every month or every two months.
By the way, which day did Tatoeba start? :P

Perhaps we can try out... November 13th? (I'm suggesting a date before this idea goes forgotten.)
And the following day I'll publish on the blog more detailed stats of the contributions on Tatoeba day (number of contributions for each language and for each participant).

- February 9th, 2006 (if you consider it started when I started writing down the idea)
- June 18th, 2006 (if you consider it started when the first few sentences were added)
- August 18th, 2006 (if you consider it started when I first "published" the project)
November 13 is perfect for me (I think).

it's my birthday :)
We could chose the Tatoeba Birthday as the Great Tatoeba Day, and organize a very big event with competitions in different field, such as the Best Logo, the Best Surreal Sentence, the Best Useful Script etc. and then celebrate the anniversary monthly, with what FeuDRenais proposed (a huge number of contributions), and maybe just 1 of the spin-off competitions! :D
I'm excited now!
Anyway, probably I will do a 3-Tatoeba Day in my school in January or February (I hope to do so), so in those days I will ask you to help me... with a lot of contributions ^^
If somebody has enough competences to make a new fancy logo, we would be glad to have a look at it anytime :D
Ce serait l'occasion d'enlever le mot "project" de ce logo, qui est la marque du suprémacisme anglophone qui règne et rebute bien des contributeurs...

IMHO the logo should be translatable too.
the new version is using html5, so the logo will be in xml (and by extension will be "translatable")
I hope it will be compatible with Opera, will it? :E
don't worry, for browser incompatible, we will generate a png from the xml, I think this kind of problem is well documented :)
a canvas ? :D is it the one displayed in Dev version ?

J'avais lu la discussion à ce sujet en parcourant vite fait le wall il y a quelques temps. De mon côté, j'avais prévu de le retirer, mais à discuter, mais ce n'est pas à moi de décider.
Concernant le suprémacisme anglophone, je ne vais pas alimenter le débat.

I didn't mean a competition for a new official logo, but for an alternative (or tribute) logo.
Something like competitions on DeviantART.com, for showing our love for Tatoeba in our field of art (drawing, music, poetry...), not for replacing Tatoeba stuff.
Another little ideas:
- the Best Background Tune for the Tatoeba Video (>music), as many of us plays some nice instruments ^^

Bv. konsideri aldoni plurajn ligojn al viaj frazoj, do post la enmeto de la frazo. Se ni ne faras, estiĝas longaj ĉenoj kaj oni ne plu vidas, ke por unu sama frazo estas pluraj tradukoj identaj aŭ tre similaj. Mi ekzemple aldonis kelkajn ligojn ĉe http://tatoeba.org/epo/sentences/show/428174 kaj fine evidentiĝis, ke jam estis tre simila traduko.
Eble vi ne povas jam meti ligojn al viaj frazoj. Tiukaze petu esti "fidinda uzanto", "trusted user".
Sed kuraĝigi tion eble ne estas bona ideo, ĉar sekve, uzantoj estas tentitaj ligi al lingvoj kiujn ili ne superregas...
Do oni kuraĝigu la uzantojn rezigni pri lingvoj, kiujn ili ne bone regas :-)
Ĵus mi denove trovis duoblaĵon, ĉi-foje en la germana, vidu ĉe http://tatoeba.org/epo/sentences/show/555327 (ambaŭ enmetitaj de cost cetere). Tio aperas, ĉar oni ne vidas la antaŭan tradukon, se mankas sufiĉaj ligoj. Almenaŭ ĉe simplaj frazoj laŭ mi oni enmetu la ligojn.
Cetere: Kelkfoje la ligoj iras tra lingvo (grize montrata), kiun oni ne konas - kaj revenas al lingvoj, kiujn oni jes konas kaj ŝatus ligi. Du eblecoj por enmeti la postan lingvon: a) Oni ligas la nekonatan lingvon por momento, tiam vidas grize la "postan" lingvon, enmetas ĝin - kaj forigas la ligon al la nekonata lingvo. (La sistemestro ne tre entuziasmos pri tio...) b) Oni eltrovas, ke "ligu" fakte ligas al paĝo kun ekzemple "http://tatoeba.org/epo/ links/ add/ 556440/ 83952" kaj enmetas la numeron de la celfrazo kiel lasta nombro.
Ĵus mi denove trovis duoblaĵon, ĉi-foje en la germana, vidu ĉe http://tatoeba.org/epo/sentences/show/555327 (ambaŭ enmetitaj de cost cetere). Tio aperas, ĉar oni ne vidas la antaŭan tradukon, se mankas sufiĉaj ligoj. Almenaŭ ĉe simplaj frazoj laŭ mi oni enmetu la ligojn.

Tatoeba estas kunlaboro, do, poiome, la frazoj estos ligitaj...aŭ maligitaj...
La problemo ne estas, ĉu oni forviŝas duoblaĵojn. (Laŭ kiu principo cetere?)
La demando estas, ĉu havas sencon, NE vidi tradukojn, kiuj estas ligitaj per du interaj frazoj kaj kiuj ofte estas tute bone uzeblaj. Tiun nevideblecon oni povas eviti per enmetado de pli da ligoj.
Krome mi ŝatas, ke homoj uzas sian tempon por io senchava - kaj ke ili ne foruzu ĝin por enmeti pliajn tradukojn, kiam tiuj jam ekzistas.
Sed, sacredceltic, kompreneble vi rajtas NE enmeti aldonajn ligojn, neniu problemo.
La "nevidebleco" estas relativa. Ne necesas vidi ĉiujn tradukojn. Tio eĉ ne estas realisma kun centoj da lingvoj...
Se vi volas vidi rektajn tradukojn, alklaki sur la frazo kiun vi volas vidi...

No... duplicates should be fused, not deleted.
And this one had 10 or so sentences linked to it, all of which have now been split off and separated because they lost the common link.

Would it be possible to make the following equivalences in the Tatoeba search?
he's <=> he is
she's <=> she is
it's <=> it is
I'm <=> I am
you're <=> you are
they're <=> they are
we're <=> we are
(among others...)
It's a bit silly that searching for "I'm..." and "I am..." yields different results (or sometimes, no results for one but some for the other).

is there a syntax to retrieve a word strictly, ie without parts of that word.
Example: if I want to retrieve only the sentences containing the word "dose", currently it also retrieves the sentences containing the word "dos" and not "dose"...

If this was made possible, many errors could be identified and corrected en masse.

Ho, mi cxiam ege sxatas kiel tiu bela lingvo flekseblas. Imagu nur samsencan anglan auxgermanan frazon. Ne eblas, cxu? Almenaux cxiu parolanto de la lastmenciitaj lingvoj havas mensan baron kontraux la ekuzo de nenormalaj frazeroj.
