http://fr.wiki.tatoeba.org/arti...s-des-serveurs

comme le wiki est sur un autre serveur (plus petit, mais pour héberger le wiki cela devra être suffisant, surtout que le wiki est écrit avec la même base de code que le futur tatoeba)

As I think both of you have already quite explained your point of view on this specific point, if you need to express to the other what he may have misread /misunderstand please use private message. (Of course the please is purely polite)

IMPORTANT

for technical reason we're going to put down Tatoeba for a few hours today. after this Tatoeba.org should be more stable.

We're sorry for this downtime.

Sorry to not have replied earlier, I was in business trip with a limited access to the internet.

I think it's not something we should accept. I've contacted the user.

I've added two new languages

* Maltese
* Chukchi

(note they will be searchable this weekend, when the search engine will be reindexed)

If the comment is exactly the same, it will get rejected, that was a quick measure I've implemented to prevent spammer.
I will try to improve it (like not doing this check for advanced users/moderators). Meanwhile, adding/removing a space/dot should do the trick.

In this case it's not the sentences themselves which are copyrighted but the "collection" i.e the original way the author of that book have decided to arrange these sentences. i.e it's should be ok to take some of them, but if this book is divided into chapter like "at the restaurant" , "greetings" etc. section, reproducing the same things as list or tags in tatoeba and reentering the same sentences (or a big enough portion) would fall into copyright violation

sysko sysko March 12, 2013 March 12, 2013 at 4:28:43 AM UTC link Permalink

it's not yet implemented for edits and deletes, as it's can be done only by corpus maintainers , I admit i didn't take time to code it and was instead spending time on improving performance. But I agree that's something that can be useful.

Anyway copurs maintainers are supposed to drop a comments before deleting/editing any sentences and waits for a 2 weeks delay, so if someone didn't respect that rules, you can drop me a private message about it, and I'll make sure the rules are respected.

I often but a backup of Tatoeba on my laptop, the code itself is on several computers , and if it's only about the sentences and links on them, even more people have a more or less copy of them.
So even if the server is destroyed, we shouldn't have to restart from scratch, and in the best base, we should even be able to only lose one or two weeks of contributions.

Of course that's not a reason to try a terrorist attack on the server.

Not really simpler, as from one page to an other we keep in a cookie the 2 languages you used in the search bar, so opening two windows will not solve the problems

1 - the first time you will need to set the second one manually to the 'inverted state' , which is what this user wants to avoid, especially if you're not a big tatoeba user
2 - if I do a search on my French-Chinese tab, that's going to set up my cookie to French-Chinese, so if I click on a sentence on my Chinese-French tab , it's going to be loaded with French-Chinese , so you will need to go back to point 1

Moreover if you see how it has been proposed, that does add new things on the interface. So if casual users want this feature, why not.

sysko sysko March 9, 2013 March 9, 2013 at 4:07:16 AM UTC link Permalink

Hello, actually you're not the first one to request us this so I've added it to our "todo list" https://github.com/allan-simon/tatoebacpp/issues/1

And for this, waiting for it to be integrated in the main version you can use this userscript http://userscripts.org/scripts/review/151698 in order to get this feature right now

sysko sysko March 3, 2013 March 3, 2013 at 10:59:42 PM UTC link Permalink

If you have a lot of sentence that differ only one word, and complex sentences being composed of sentences also in the corpus, far from impossible.

After if you authorize to add sentence to "test" if what you've guessed about the grammar and meaning of words is correct, and get corrected, it starts to be not that difficult.

Actually I'm currently teaching my gilfriend French more or less that way, i.e providing her sentences and their meaning, one a day (a new one needing to be composed of the word and grammatical structure she already have seen in other sentence , with one word difference or all words she already have seen but organized with a new sentence pattern)

And when we chat we try to make up new sentences made out of these ones. My hope is that the scope of what she's able to express will go exponentially (as she as a way to look up to what she already know)

I'm the one who asked liori to do it, as the wall is not suitable to build up a long-term proposition for Google summer of code, waiting me to propose an official tatoeba wiki.

I've promoted Tommy_san to "advanced contributors"

Concerning the messages of these last says. I've finally finished my vacations/friends visiting me etc. so tonight I should have finished to treat most of things that was sent during that period and I'll be able to go back to normal activity.

sysko sysko February 18, 2013 February 18, 2013 at 7:48:42 AM UTC link Permalink

It should be corrected by now.

sysko sysko February 18, 2013 February 18, 2013 at 7:48:15 AM UTC link Permalink

The problem is solved.
