is "desolate" right?
shouldn't it be desolated?
@marcelostockle
"Desolate" is all right. My dictionary defines it as "giving an impression of bleak and dismal emptiness; utterly wretched and unhappy".
if it were 'desolated', you'd expect the next word to be (for example) by, not after, and the meaning would be a bit different:
The town was desolated by the flood.
