** Need testers for important Tatoeba update **
Lately a new developer (@halfdan) joined us and has been working on some pretty big change: the upgrade of CakePHP (the framework Tatoeba is built upon).
This upgrade won't bring any new functionality for end users, so overall you will not see any difference with the current Tatoeba website, but this is a step towards a more modern codebase, which means a more comfortable environment for developers, which means better chance to attract developers :)
The next Tatoeba update will include this framework upgrade, along with the display of audio contributors that gillux implemented weeks ago:
http://tatoeba.org/eng/wall/sho...#message_27871
Note: the release of the audio contributors feature was delayed because it impacts the deduplication script and we didn't re-adapt the script yet.
I don't have a date yet for the next Tatoeba update -- it all depends on how fast we can fix the remaining things we need to fix -- but because the CakePHP upgrade impacts every feature of Tatoeba, we're gonna need more intensive testing than usual.
You can already start testing the dev website: https://dev.tatoeba.org
Most of the features should be working, but there are still several known issues we didn't get to fix yet, and there's very likely some other issues we didn't even detect.
So if you have time, please help us test. Simply reply to this message to report any bug you've found. Please focus on reporting *regressions* for the time being, i.e. things that don't work on the dev website, but work fine on the main website.
If you have ideas of improvements, do not post them in this thread. Report them to me in a private message.
Thank you very much!

The space for the forms of an advanced research do not look the same on the test site, is it intended?
There is not enough space on the right of the "sentences" form so the "translations" form is displayed under.

This is not intended. They should be next to each other.

The number of sentences is not very well aligned with the language flag:

A general comment - while you say there will be nothing gained from the functional point of view for the end users, the new site looks way better on mobile devices, a great improvement as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not sure how the dev website is displayed for you, but I'm curious to know what makes you say it look better on mobile devices.
We didn't really do anything regarding the graphical display of the website. The main website (tatoeba.org) and the dev website (dev.tatoeba.org) should look pretty much the same.

Is this on dev or on the production website? The "Remember me" functionality on dev should definitely be fixed.

Some elements are misaligned on the following pages:
http://dev.tatoeba.org/eng/collections/of/trang
http://dev.tatoeba.org/eng/users/all
http://dev.tatoeba.org/eng/stat...es_by_language
http://dev.tatoeba.org/eng/audio/index

I just saw that the search for a specific tag (on this page: http://dev.tatoeba.org/ita/tags/view_all) isn't working anymore with the new upgrade, while this works on the main site

These should be fixed too.

yep, i can confirm this, from what I tried

new bug: I tried to open the link I posted for the tags bug, it automatically included ) at the end of the url, and the opened page shows some code instead of 404 (which I maybe expected since it was a different url than the one expected)

yes, and the main site shows a proper error with ) after an url, just checked

The error on the dev website looks different because the debug level is currently at 1.
The main website has a debug level of 0.
Debug level 1 will display errors messages that are more useful for developers. If I'd set the debug level to 0, you should see the same message as on the main website.

I'm planning an update for this Sunday. Please give it another round of testing :)
Thank you!

This should be fixed now.

I can't reproduce this.

This is a weird behavior, I'm not sure what causes it, perhaps it's related to transcriptions. Editing a sentence that only has kanas will duplicate it.
For instance if you try to edit this:
https://dev.tatoeba.org/eng/sentences/show/3852162
You will see the characters being repeated in the edit text field.
But if you try to edit:
https://dev.tatoeba.org/eng/sentences/show/3852163
It's fine.

some "checkers" seem to be too close from their respective buttons;

Chrome ( Zomm 100%)

Note that this is admin stuff. This doesn't affect regular users. Inconsistent graphical display is not too much of an issue for admins.

> the "remember me" still doesn't work properly
I'm currently not able to reproduce this.
Are you deleting your cookies?

depending on the tag you're going to add, it may take up to 15 seconds

Chrome

At this point it's unclear whether or not this is due to your internet connection, rather than Tatoeba.

In http://dev.tatoeba.org/eng/favo...user/Ricardo14
the message Notice (8): Undefined index: user_id [APP/View/Helper/SentencesHelper.php, line 583] is displayed

Tatoeba has been updated.
It was a pretty big update, so you will likely run into issues that were not detected during the test phase. If that's the case, simply create a new Wall thread, like you would usually do when you find bugs. No need to reply to this thread anymore.
Thank you to those who helped testing!
