[F] and [M] tags have all been removed (and also trailing space)

sysko sysko June 26, 2010 June 26, 2010 at 2:05:12 PM UTC link پرمالنک

Welcome :)

Even if you know only one and want to learn an other, just add sentences in your language (and check before if they does not exist with the search bar :) ) and ask in comments, how to translate this in language YYY
(btw I think we should add the video somewhere directly here)

sysko sysko June 24, 2010 June 24, 2010 at 2:34:02 PM UTC link پرمالنک

at least for more obfuscated idiom, one can precise the "pure" form of the idiom in comment

sysko sysko June 24, 2010 June 24, 2010 at 10:41:57 AM UTC link پرمالنک

in fact to have your "need two user" we can consider that "owned" a sentence is the first proofread (and then when you adopt a sentence you will not be able to set the OK tag, like the guy who contributed this sentence)
and then if the sentence is owned and you're not the current owner nor the guy who added it then you will be able to set the OK tag

sysko sysko June 24, 2010 June 24, 2010 at 10:23:36 AM UTC link پرمالنک

sure, it's planned but it's not in my priority list

sysko sysko June 24, 2010 June 24, 2010 at 10:22:07 AM UTC link پرمالنک

I'm even more picky ("never trust your user, even trusted user :P")
in the database we have a table which keep logs of action on sentences, so I will check the guy who "added" it, not the current owner :) (otherwise you would have not been able to correct a tanaka corpus sentence and set it to ok)

sysko sysko June 24, 2010 June 24, 2010 at 10:01:46 AM UTC link پرمالنک

at least I plan very soon to make the following things
* filter by language on a tag page (show only ok sentences in French etc.)
* have a nice page to list only sentences in XXXX not translated in YYYY

sysko sysko June 24, 2010 June 24, 2010 at 10:00:02 AM UTC link پرمالنک

Yep in fact this has been considered for a long time because has Scott said this is the major criticisms Tanaka corpus has, and so tatoeba too

The major problem is "how" do this, now we have tags , I can make the "ok" tag a special tag, which only trusted user who are not the sentence owner (no CK I'm not talking about you :P) can set

and maybe add a bit everywhere a "show only proofread" checkbox

sysko sysko June 23, 2010 June 23, 2010 at 2:20:12 PM UTC link پرمالنک

ok, great

sysko sysko June 23, 2010 June 23, 2010 at 1:29:12 PM UTC link پرمالنک

I haven't checked, are they copyrighted under CC-BY ?

if yes, I will first need to integrate the "import from text file" feature, and after I will be able to import shtooka sentences /audios

sysko sysko June 23, 2010 June 23, 2010 at 1:26:53 PM UTC link پرمالنک

yep you're right that we can do something like that, authorized trusted user to upload audios, and have a way to differentiate "shtooka" from the others, but here again the problem is not the idea, but Time we have :( so I don't know when will be able to integrate this feature
(by the way if one of our contributors-geek is willing to integrate this feature soon, me and Trang can help him/her to go trough the code)

sysko sysko June 23, 2010 June 23, 2010 at 1:58:33 AM UTC link پرمالنک

added 800 French audios , 400 Chinese audios
I had forgotten to say I've also added some days ago 100 Dutch audios thanks to ramses from spanishonly.com

so before 1300 audios => now 2800 :)

sysko sysko June 22, 2010 June 22, 2010 at 3:31:23 PM UTC link پرمالنک

ok thanks :) , I will wait my exams period to be finished before go deep into this.

sysko sysko June 22, 2010 June 22, 2010 at 3:29:35 PM UTC link پرمالنک

oh no I don't want to be kidnapped :(

sysko sysko June 22, 2010 June 22, 2010 at 3:06:11 PM UTC link پرمالنک

all current developpers are French, the server are hosted in France, so according to French law, Trang and me are responsible of the content in Tatoeba, not only contributors.

sysko sysko June 22, 2010 June 22, 2010 at 3:04:39 PM UTC link پرمالنک

as said under, we not only quote, we create derivative works from this quote

sysko sysko June 22, 2010 June 22, 2010 at 3:03:26 PM UTC link پرمالنک

the problem come from the fact we create a derivative works from them (a translation / audio / also plan to make so automatic text analysis for machine learning with tatoeba data), not a simple "quote" for explaining (which is basically what French authorize for quoting)

so maybe it's possible, but I didn't find a law which clearly state that in French/European law, after all I'm not a jurist neither have read everything, so maybe I'm wrong, but we prefer to be safe rather than include some "maybe we can" content and after having problems (and in France it's "fashion" to make law suit about illegal use of copyrighted content)

sysko sysko June 22, 2010 June 22, 2010 at 2:58:35 PM UTC link پرمالنک

fair use is a notion which doesn't exist in French law

sysko sysko June 22, 2010 June 22, 2010 at 8:40:20 AM UTC link پرمالنک

in fact even public domain can be problematic, because for example some book from French dead authors are already in public domain in Canada but they're still not in France, due to a difference of "when does a book fall in public domain"
so in fact the only books that you can safely copy are those under CC-BY (yeah I know it's hard to find, but I'm not a law maker :( )

sysko sysko June 21, 2010 June 21, 2010 at 2:58:17 PM UTC link پرمالنک

@blay_paul => see your private message for linking "far" sentences

for logs of links yep it's something we also need to do, tough I will personnally not thing it needs to be displayed in the 10 last recent activity, maybe a specific "recent link" ? because I don't think it's something useful for most of users
