Wouldn't this be better without the commas?
FROM:
Tea, drunk from a new thermos, tastes a little metallic.
TO:
Tea drunk from a new thermos tastes a little metallic.
Personally, I think not. I think it's a matter of style.
The commas set off the subordinate clause,
and make it easier to parse.
