Is that really "good English" as the list suggests?

I personally have a hard time coming up with a context in which this sentence would be used.
The most likely context that comes to mind is in physics, since "to do work" has a physical meaning (to exert force in the direction that an object is moving).
It would be a little more natural if "it" was replaced with "he" or "she" since a person can also "do work" (on a project, at their job, etc).
