Japanese transliteration, as well as Georgian, Uzbek and Wu (Shanghainese) are working again

for Japanese it's now powered by a new tool developed by saeb (source available here) https://github.com/loolmeh/oniichand

It's a bit late now, I will put back the missing ones (Mandarin and Cantonese) tomorrow if everything goes well.

So we should soon have back all the services on Tatoeba.

yeah actually as indexing takes a lot of resource during an hour or so, i need to run it manually when I'm sure the server is not being used that much (otherwise the database may crash, and if it happens when i'm far away from my computer it may take some days before I see it)

As these days I'm getting less busy, I will try to launch a reindexing ASAP

we got someone doing massive request on the website, I've blocked the IP address

I've regenerated the index , and i didn't pay attention the configuration file has changed, so the indexer did put the new "indexes" at a place, but the search engine was still looking for them at the old place

it's corrected now (and the search engine has been updated)

Je pense que l'organisme qui a defini le code "fro" pour l'ancien français doit avoir une definition de ce qu'ils entendent par là, celà doit tres certainement couvrir une periode bien précise. Après évidemment une langue évoluant linéairement il y aura une zone flou ou, mais si on peut differencier 90% des phrases, ce sera déjà une bonne avancée.

En fait il faudrait aussi que je remette à jour les données du serveur en production, il me semble qu'il est encore au statistiques d'il y a un an.

Le but est aussi d'avoir le code le plus simple possible / adaptable, donc je pense plutôt que dans le calcul du score, pour les langues ayant suffisamment de données, considéré que tous les "N-grams" possible y sont présent , et impliquer un score negatif si un n-gram d'une phrase a detecter n'est pas présent.

2 - unlink
3 - put a comment on the unlinked sentence, so that the other can correct and reask for linking (I think we have enough advanced contributors / moderators so that "ling again" shouldn't be a big deal)

the advatange is that if the linked sentence owner does not anwer, we don't finish with sentences linked though they shouldn't be

Yup it's planned, but as it's not really straightforward, I prefer to wait to have the new Wall (it will be available before the new tatoeba) to reimport them. If you need to make some search in it, I can provide you with the raw data.

To what I remember of my Law lessons is the following

As Tatoeba is hosted in France, is a French legal association, and both founders (Trang and me) are french citizen, I think French law would apply, though they're not the best in our favor (no 'fair use exception' etc. )

le wiki encore une fois n'est géré que par Trang, alexmarcelo et moi, il y a juste des gens qui ont eu un compte un peu plus tôt. des beta-testeurs... non vraiment, le wiki bien qu'encore incomplet au niveau de la gestion des droits et des fonctionnalités, se basent vraiment sur un nouveau socle qui reprends les divers critiquent que l'on a pu faire au cours du temps sur Tatoeba, par exemple a présent chaque nouvelle fonctionnalités que j'ajoute n'est ajouté qu'une fois que je suis sur qu'il y a une traçabilité à son sujet facilement accessible à tout (pour éviter comme sur Tatoeba par exemple le coup des étiquettes pouvant être retiré sans que personne ne sache qui l'a fait.)

Après il faut pas non plus que cela soit trop compliqué sinon cela alourdi le formulaire et les chances que les "vraies" personnes pensent que ça n'en vaille pas la peine et ferme la page.

Peut-etre affiché la questions en plusieurs langues, sur les langues les plus probables via le champ "accepted-language" du navigateurs et/ou l'addresse IP par exemple dans mon cas, cela afficherait la question en français, anglais (langues envoyés par mon navigateurs) et Chinois. Ce qui du coup devrait au moins retourner une des langues que parle l'utilisateur, ce qui serait plus simple (pas de champs à sélectionner) pour l'utilisateur.

Dans l'absolu en Europe les "logiciels" ne sont pas brevetables (enfin du temps ou j'ai eu mes cours de droits informatiques). Il me semble que la procédure est onéreuse aux états-unis, j'avais entendu que dans ce cas décrire la procédure très précisement, avec si possible une "proof of concept" pouvait faire valoir de "prior art" même si le brevet n'est pas déposé.

dans l'absolu cela ne règlerait pas le problème car le fait que les comptes en questions ne postent que par message privé, et évite soigneusement d'envoyer des messages aux administrateurs, me fait penser plus à des personnes derrière payé façon "scam nigériens" à envoyer ce genre de message.

Le captcha serait utile dans l'optique d'une armée de bot postant du contenu n'importe ou.

Peut etre un systeme "vous devez avoir posté au moins 5 phrases pour pouvoir envoyé un message" comme ça si c'est des humains derrières, au moins ils auront contribué à Tatoeba :)

D'ailleurs je vais de ce pas breveter une nouvelle méthode de captcha:

Cela affiche une image et demande "Écrivez une phrase dans votre langue décrivant cet image. Ça arrive sur Tatoeba, ou l'on aurait au préalable associé l'image avec un tas de phrase, et si la phrase entrée contient des mots similaires, alors c'est ok. Avec évidemment des images simples, par exemple une pomme rouge posé sur une table en bois avec un fond blanc., histoire de limiter les possibilités.
