"mára" ist "heute", oder?
Das wäre dann nicht im Sinn des deutschen Satzes.
"schon" ist einfach ein positiver Verstärker; falls jemand an einer Aussage zweifelt oder zweifeln könnte, sagt man "schon". Es ist so ähnlich wie "doch".
