In some contexts, this might be the best possible translation of the English "What did he say?" "What did the boy say?" is a perfect match, of course, and you can add it if you like. I just translated the English sentence into Finnish, not the other way round. – There's no reason to unlink.
Why should there be? Didn't you read the previous comment? There is no Finnish word perfectly translating "he". In many contexts you have to be creative
