Just wanted to change mi profile to report about my humble language knowledges, but didnt find a form to fill out, what i found strange in a langauge wiki.

Yes, there is no form (yet). See point 12: http://blog.tatoeba.org/2010/02...n-tatoeba.html
Ja, es gibt (noch) kein Formular. Siehe auch Punkt 12:
https://docs.google.com/documen...d.761d8fd2d3f1
Jes, formularo ne jam ekzistas. Vido regulon 12:
https://docs.google.com/documen...Y&hl=en&pli=1#

+ + + - -
zB 7 von 10:
+++++++---

Tial mi volas proponi al vi, ke oni instalu cxapeligan javascript-on por tiuj uzantoj kiel mi.
Kion vi opinias pri tiu propono?
Tatoebae,
Jakov

Hm, as it seems that the working language here is english, i will rewrite my message in english:
As you may see in the message before i don't always have proper means of adding "^" to the Esperanto diacritic letters (ĉ, ĥ, ĝ, ĵ, ŝ and ŭ as well as their upper-case equivalents) but am obliged to use x-system transcription on my iPhone for example.
That's why I propose to install optional JavaScript for those users like me. This could sometimes also be needed in other languages i guess. Maybe the way the wikipedia handles this could be a good example too: there one can add the letters by clicking a certain link.
tatoeba regards,
Jakov

Yes, I think it’s a nice feature, but now we really lack programmers. Currently everybody is developing a new Python version of Tatoeba, and I guess you have to wait for this feature to appear.
Unfortunately, sysko (our main programmer) is very busy right now.
As a temporary measure, you can allow moderators to replace X-system to normal Esperanto letters in your sentences. (You can write what you allow moderators to do in your profile)
> Hm, as it seems that the working language here is english
Well, you might have written in French. :)
We don’t formally have a working language. You can write in any language.
But more people speak English, so you have to wait less for the answer. :)

Does anybody know a javascript bookmarklet for this oit there?
Cxu iu konas javascript-an bookmarklet-on por cxi tio?

Tatoebae,
Muiriel
Mi esperas ke vi parolas germanan - mi regardis viajn kontribuojn ;)...

Is American English not listed in languages?

‘English’ is for both American and British English.
Tatoeba can’t put 2 flags for one language, so we’re using only British Flag. Yes, this is a bit misleading; CK has already pointed this out.
Tags can be used to show that sentence is only American or only British.
Now we have the following tags:

Broken links after duplicate removal script.
I thought this was fixed, but apparently not completely.
See

I don't know for the second sentence you've pointed, but the first one has been merged during the last "buggy" script. The current one can't fix the broken link. But I will see to make a one shot script, which will solve the "broken" links the buggy script made.

That's rather odd - I check the Japanese/English links twice a week.

Same thing here.

My, somebody went to a lot of trouble. But the list got there first (and has 40 or so more sentences).
http://tatoeba.org/eng/sentences_lists/show/113/

Furigana is not displayed on the list page, unlike CK’s tag page.

It's certainly true that Tags have become way more popular than lists. There are still some things that tags don't do, though. There's no option to export sentences from tags, for example. *hint hint*

I spoke with Trang about translating the "how to be a good contributor" manual in other languages.
http://blog.tatoeba.org/2010/02...n-tatoeba.html
I think the reasons to do it are clear - to exclude less people from understanding the project, getting trusted_user etc.
The problem is clear too - it's much work. But maybe for some languages we can find more than one volunteer to divide the work. So I begin^^: Is there anyone who would help me translate the guide from English to German?

https://docs8.google.com/docume...YOPdQn4&hl=fr#

Vendu !

Thank you sacredceltic, brauliobezerra and Shishir - you're great :) !

I will do the Portuguese translation.

And I can translate it into Spanish, if you want.

I finished! Here is the Spanish version:
https://docs.google.com/documen...E&hl=en&pli=1#

I'm ready to do the job in Polish, we've got a lot of new contributors recently, just tell me how to do this (e-mail? google-docs?).

Someday we will have a wiki, and it will be easier to manage this kind of content...
Until then, best solution (in my opinion) would be to use Google Docs, like GrizaLeono did. I will then add a link to your Google Doc. I will add it before the introduction in the original article.
Google Docs is practical because if you want to correct some mistakes in your translation, you can correct directly from your Google Doc, without having to send me your updated version and waiting for me to upload it :)
You can also share you Google document with other people, so that they can help you translate.

OK, here goes Polish translation of the manual. I took the liberty to add in the end some remarks about specifically Polish language issues in translating sentences. Hope it helps.
https://docs.google.com/documen...3wpLF0yQ&hl=pl

Thank you zipangu!! I added the link to your Google document :)
http://blog.tatoeba.org/2010/02...n-tatoeba.html

Thank you, MUIRIEL & TRANG!

Oh, wow, thank you very much, zipangu!
You're all so quick and I still didn't finish the German translation, but I promise I will (maybe in a week).

> The problem is clear too - it's much work.
Yeah, I think the original is too wordy. There should probably be a version cut down to the essentials that is about 1/5 the size of the full version.

Yes, the text is a bit long, but it explains quite well what contributors should do.

"how to be a good contributor" --> "Kiel esti bona kontribuanto"
I did translate the English version into Esperanto and I sent the address to Muiriel.

Koran dankon kaj gratulon Muiriel kaj GrizaLeono!

There's now an esperanto version of the guide of the good contributor thanks to GrizaLeono:

There is now a German version of the guide "How to be a good contributor.
